Racing de Olavarria's supporters rose to their feet, but Evaristo Bastia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cecilio Olentzaro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Evaristo Bastia could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 23rd minute of the match, but Cecilio Olentzaro made a huge save. In the 25th minute the ball was on its way in behind Racing de Olavarria's goalkeeper Urbano Mouricio, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Urbano Mouricio stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Antonio Txema's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. Urbano Mouricio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antonio Txema in the 29th minute of play. Urbano Mouricio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Saverio Rivas, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. Ismael Dantel's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cecilio Olentzaro read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 33rd minute of play. Evaristo Bastia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cecilio Olentzaro having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Talleres's Gonzalo Bilbo got a free kick in the 35th minute. If Evaristo Bastia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cecilio Olentzaro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ismael Dantel in the 46th minute of play. Ismael Dantel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cecilio Olentzaro having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

In the 55th minute, Evaristo Bastia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Antonio Txema received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Urbano Mouricio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Antonio Txema came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the Talleres fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Antonio Txema couldn't finish the play. If Dario Nesto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Evaristo Bastia in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cecilio Olentzaro saved Talleres from getting behind. In the 73rd minute, Saverio Rivas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 78th minute of the match Filiberto Martxel shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Cecilio Olentzaro showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Cecilio Olentzaro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ismael Dantel in the 90th minute of the match.
