The supporters of Argentina booed when EmpeñadoFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Samuel Gurutz didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 11th minute Eleuterio Liberto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Raimundo Tano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 12th minute, Ignacio Euloxu reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Joel Botello. The goal made the score 1-0. Gabriel Matia's late challenge caught a Argentina's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gabriel Matia helped the player get up and apologised. After 16 played minutes EmpeñadoFC got a freekick which was hit by Gabriel Matia. After 17 played minutes, Argentina's Rodolfo Belo shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Raimundo Tano came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Argentina reached it. EmpeñadoFC's Raimundo Tano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eleuterio Liberto in the 21st minute of play. 29 minutes into the match, EmpeñadoFC's goal looked a bit too open when Santo Valente came free, but Raimundo Tano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Raimundo Tano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eleuterio Liberto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. EmpeñadoFC's Ignacio Euloxu got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Joel Botello showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fabian Lalla in the 60th minute of the match. When Cristo Gombal fell near the penalty area in the 61st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Argentina's protests and gave Cristo Gombal a yellow card for diving instead. In the 61st minute, Cristo Gombal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Argentina's zone, Fabian Lalla stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Joel Botello came out of the goal and Fabian Lalla tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Raimundo Tano made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. After having played for 76 minutes, Hermengildo Eudoxio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. EmpeñadoFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hermengildo Eudoxio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hermengildo Eudoxio in the 79th minute of play forced Argentina's goalkeeper Joel Botello to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Argentina's Eleuterio Liberto in the 82nd minute got a chance for a shot 82nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye EmpeñadoFC's goalie prevented a goal. The Argentina supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Argentina would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
