In the 21stth minute of the game Eulalio Oro who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Empalme's Hilario Bartoli was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Hernan Vedillo hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. 24 minutes into the match, CA Vélez Sarsfield's goalkeeper Baldomero Iztal had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Herminio Francho. Baldomero Iztal made an important save on a dangerous shot by Herminio Francho in the 25th minute. In the 27th minute, Roque Casomiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Felipe Medero to strike the kick off in the second half. Hilario Bartoli stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Eulalio Oro's shot from short distance in the 52nd minute. 54 minutes into the match, Herminio Francho had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Baldomero Iztal. CA Vélez Sarsfield's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Herminio Francho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. The crowd rose to their feet as CA Vélez Sarsfield's Eulalio Oro slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Hilario Bartoli. That made the score 1-2 after 56 minutes of play. After a rather tough play, CA Vélez Sarsfield's Fabricio Cresitobalo got a free kick in the 66th minute. Ovidio Larpe took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 67th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Baldomero Iztal. CA Vélez Sarsfield's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jacinto Egoi during the 71st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Hernan Vedillo received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Hilario Bartoli came out and tried to block the shot, but Hernan Vedillo slotted it home off the left post making it 1-3 in the 81st minute. Eulalio Oro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Hilario Bartoli read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 84th minute of play. Froilan Gitano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Alvaro Rito kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. 91 minutes into the match, Empalme's goal looked a bit too open when Eulalio Oro came free, but Hilario Bartoli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 93rd minute Felipe Medero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Baldomero Iztal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felipe Medero in the 95th minute of play forced CA Vélez Sarsfield's goalkeeper Baldomero Iztal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Empalme supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching CA Vélez Sarsfield's performance. The match ended with a win for CA Vélez Sarsfield.
