The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 2 played minutes Carreras got a freekick which was hit by Silverio Lalla. Carreras's Enrique Milio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cleto Elazar in the 9th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Carreras's Hipolito Rios got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Cleto Elazar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 29 played minutes Carreras got a freekick which was hit by Ambrosio Odon. Saturnino Pancho hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Silverio Lalla got free with Miguel Timo in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jaime Mundo's late challenge caught a los troncos's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jaime Mundo helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Carreras getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Jaime Mundo hit a great ball. In the 38th minute of the match Rigoberto Fernanco sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Enrique Milio skillfully saved the ball. In the 40th minute, one of Carreras:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Carreras. In the 42nd minute there was a penalty for los troncos. Rigoberto Fernanco stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Enrique Milio. 0-1. Silverio Lalla blasted a shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Miguel Timo having to make a save. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Saturnino Pancho stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Miguel Timo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Silverio Lalla's shot from short distance in the 53rd minute. Bengt Vallmark received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Miguel Timo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ambrosio Odon scored 1-1 in the 56th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Miguel Timo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Carreras booed when los troncos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eustaquio Marino didn't get a good kick on the ball.
