The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, UNION 1989 FC's Baldomiro Chesus got a free kick in the 5th minute. After 6 played minutes Hay Hielo Frio F.C got a freekick which was hit by Silvestre Ayala. In the 11th minute Santiago Lando shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zeledon Shantala saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Leonel Orlandus got free with Teofilo Olando in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 19 minutes, Celso Nabar mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the UNION 1989 FC and the Hay Hielo Frio F.C players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, UNION 1989 FC's Celso Nabar got a free kick in the 19th minute. Andres Gauargi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Teofilo Olando took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leonel Orlandus, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 29th match minute, Hay Hielo Frio F.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Samuel Calisto to maneuver through the defense. In the 32nd match minute, Hay Hielo Frio F.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Florencio Venceslao to maneuver through the defense. After 42 played minutes UNION 1989 FC got a freekick which was hit by Celso Nabar. UNION 1989 FC's Celso Nabar quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Florencio Venceslao, made in the 46th minute of the game. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Raul Ado made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Leonel Orlandus made a precise shot to the right of Teofilo Olando. UNION 1989 FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. After having played for 55 minutes, Raul Ado managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hay Hielo Frio F.C's supporters crossed their fingers, but Raul Ado was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Celso Nabar got his second yellow card in the match during the 58th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After 59 played minutes UNION 1989 FC got a freekick which was hit by Celso Nabar. The referee felt a red card was in order, 64 minutes into the game, when Egil Hök put in a rough tackle. 68 minutes into the match, Leonel Orlandus had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Teofilo Olando. UNION 1989 FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Leonel Orlandus was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. UNION 1989 FC's Teofilo Olando played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leonel Orlandus in the 71st minute of play. Anier Nastasio's late challenge caught a Hay Hielo Frio F.C's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Anier Nastasio helped the player get up and apologised. Hay Hielo Frio F.C's Zeledon Shantala proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 80th minute of the match, managed to save Hay Hielo Frio F.C from getting a goal against them. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Silvestre Ayala managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hay Hielo Frio F.C's supporters rose to their feet, but Silvestre Ayala was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Teofilo Olando breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Leonel Orlandus recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Hay Hielo Frio F.C were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of UNION 1989 FC for a fine match.
