The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Alonzo Tulio hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. Ascensión's Victorino Jerrald played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Bernebe in the 18th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Ascensión's zone, Hipolito Katia stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Victorino Jerrald came out of the goal and Hipolito Katia tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 25 minutes into the game, Ascensión's Ceferino Tibalt nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Justo Aureo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. If Leandro Muno had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Leandro Muno hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. Victorino Jerrald stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Carlos Bernebe's shot from short distance in the 38th minute. Alonzo Tulio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Justo Aureo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ceferino Tibalt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Justo Aureo made a huge save. 47 minutes into the match, LUIFA ARTIME's goal looked a bit too open when Leandro Muno came free, but Justo Aureo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 47th minute, Sebastian Baumar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Carlos Bernebe to make the kick off. In the 53rd minute Sebastian Baumar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Justo Aureo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
