Albano Paz was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 18 minutes into the match. A collision led to Zubillaga AFC getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Albano Paz hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Jesus Montae managed to get in a good position for a shot. Atletico Milanga's supporters rose to their feet, but Jesus Montae was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. With a little luck, Zubillaga AFC's Gilberto Jaunti got control of the ball when Julio Regis tried to sneak it across the goal line. The referee ignored Zubillaga AFC's protests and gave Geovanni Proença a yellow card for diving instead. After 45 played minutes Zubillaga AFC got a freekick which was hit by Geovanni Proença. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
