The referee ignored Maquinistas Navales's protests and gave Silvio Rito a yellow card for diving instead. Benicio Oinaz scored 1-0 in the 7th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Prospero Cordarryl, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 13 minutes, Celestino Goren mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Club River Plate and the Maquinistas Navales players grew even worse after the yellow card. Celestino Goren kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. After 14 played minutes, Maquinistas Navales's Silvio Rito shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Alonzo Eliazar came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Maquinistas Navales reached it. When Silvio Rito came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Maquinistas Navales fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Silvio Rito couldn't finish the play. After having played for 18 minutes, Alan Shearer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Maquinistas Navales's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alan Shearer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Alonzo Eliazar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Silvio Rito in the 26th minute of play. In the 26th match minute, Club River Plate was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Iker Selatse to maneuver through the defense. Prospero Cordarryl was a little too slow when Celestino Goren got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 31st minute. The score was now 2-0. Alan Shearer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Alonzo Eliazar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 39th minute of the match, Celestino Goren tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Prospero Cordarryl saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 40 minutes into the match, Silvio Rito had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Alonzo Eliazar. Club River Plate's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Silvio Rito was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. In the 44th match minute, Club River Plate was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Celestino Goren to maneuver through the defense. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rubinho Valladares to make the kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Salvador Marsh during the 51st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Silvio Rito couldn't finish the play. Alonzo Eliazar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alan Shearer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Prospero Cordarryl showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Benicio Oinaz, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. In the 80th minute Celestino Goren shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Prospero Cordarryl saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Simon Valente kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. In the 86th minute of the match Silvio Rito sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Alonzo Eliazar skillfully saved the ball. Benito Ugaitz kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. Alonzo Eliazar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rubinho Valladares in the 94th minute of play. A collision led to Club River Plate getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Benicio Oinaz hit a great ball. The Club River Plate fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Maquinistas Navales were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
