In the 9th minute, Hermengildo Gartzi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Pedro Abarca came up free with the goalie in the 10th minute, the JOTA FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pedro Abarca couldn't finish the play. Abel Dayam hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. Abel Peli came free in the 23rd minute and tried to tip the ball over Aquilino Nuno, but to the joy of Newbery FC's supporters the ball hit the crossbar and out. In the 25th minute, Newbery FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Pedro Abarca fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. If Pedro Abarca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of JOTA FC booed when Newbery FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Abel Dayam didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pedro Abarca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Aquilino Nuno tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Newbery FC's zone, Gavino Tono stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aquilino Nuno came out of the goal and Gavino Tono tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Santos Baudelio hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. Anibal Gonzales took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aurelio Honesto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Hermengildo Gartzi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Anibal Gonzales showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Geronimo Elorri, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Anibal Gonzales came out of the goal and Aurelio Honesto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hermengildo Gartzi blasted a shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Anibal Gonzales having to make a save. 69 minutes into the game, Pedro Abarca cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Aquilino Nuno was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The audience was convinced that Pedro Abarca's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Aquilino Nuno was relentless in the 75th minute of the game.
