The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Florentino Alfonso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aldo Pes in the 5th minute of play. Narciso Oxel hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. AFC Richmond's Gabriel Jesco shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 7th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Flavio Aztore but with some difficulty. With an all-out effort, AFC Richmond's Flavio Aztore threw himself towards the right post 9 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Victoriano Ferran, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 14 minutes into the match, AFC Richmond's goal looked a bit too open when Teobaldo Dantel came free, but Florentino Alfonso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Teobaldo Dantel managed to get in a good position for a shot. JUVENTUD DE MADARIAGA's supporters rose to their feet, but Teobaldo Dantel was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Florentino Alfonso breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Gabriel Jesco came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the AFC Richmond fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gabriel Jesco couldn't finish the play. 26 minutes into the game, Elvio Dolfo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. JUVENTUD DE MADARIAGA's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave AFC Richmond the free kick. In the 26th minute, Elvio Dolfo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 27th match minute, AFC Richmond was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carolo Conrao to maneuver through the defense. Victoriano Ferran could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Flavio Aztore made a huge save. In the 32nd minute, JUVENTUD DE MADARIAGA's Narciso Oxel seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Narciso Oxel the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of JUVENTUD DE MADARIAGA protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Narciso Oxel had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 32nd minute, one of JUVENTUD DE MADARIAGA:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for JUVENTUD DE MADARIAGA. Flavio Aztore took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adolfo Damario, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 43rd minute Tobias Juvenal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Florentino Alfonso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 45th minute Aurelio Osoitz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flavio Aztore saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Victoriano Ferran to make the kick off. Aldo Pes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Florentino Alfonso having to make a save. Silvestre Jerardo kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. After 57 played minutes AFC Richmond got a freekick which was hit by Adolfo Damario. After a rather tough play, AFC Richmond's Silvestre Jerardo got a free kick in the 71st minute. Florentino Alfonso was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 74th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Luciano Tristan. In the 78th match minute, AFC Richmond was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edgard Castulo to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, AFC Richmond's Victoriano Ferran got a free kick in the 80th minute. The long shot by Luciano Tristan in the 80th minute really tested Florentino Alfonso's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. After a defensive mix-up in AFC Richmond's zone, Luciano Tristan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Florentino Alfonso came out of the goal and Luciano Tristan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
