LaGordoneta's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Damaso Darien was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Jesus Martino's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Jorge Leizarraga firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 13thth minute of the game Hilario Hulberto who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Pikas's Alfredo Kismi was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 16 minutes into the match, LaGordoneta's goalkeeper Jorge Leizarraga had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jesus Martino. A collision led to LaGordoneta getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Jeremias Hurko hit a great ball. A throw-in in the 22nd minute of the game was made by Ernesto Beturian with Federico Cefero as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Jorge Leizarraga took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cosme Barros, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jesus Martino took the ball and in the 24 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jorge Leizarraga. Jorge Leizarraga dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. The audience was convinced that Hilario Hulberto's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Alfredo Kismi was relentless in the 28th minute of the game. Jorge Leizarraga took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cosme Barros, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cosme Barros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Jorge Leizarraga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. LaGordoneta's Jorge Leizarraga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Camilo Gonza in the 35th minute of play. Alfredo Kismi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hilario Hulberto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 42nd minute, Damaso Darien made a precise shot to the right of Jorge Leizarraga. LaGordoneta's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. Jorge Leizarraga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cosme Barros in the 46th minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Hilario Hulberto made the kick off in the second half. Hilario Hulberto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Eloy Haimar kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. Adolfo Kaxen took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 56th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Jorge Leizarraga. LaGordoneta's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Teofilo Eriz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After having played for 64 minutes, Natalio Koldo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. LaGordoneta's supporters crossed their fingers, but Natalio Koldo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 67 minutes, Cosme Barros mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Pikas and the LaGordoneta players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 67 played minutes Pikas got a freekick which was hit by Cosme Barros. In the 69th minute Cosme Barros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jorge Leizarraga saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alfredo Kismi made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hilario Hulberto in the 73rd minute. 75 minutes into the match, LaGordoneta's goal looked a bit too open when Cosme Barros came free, but Jorge Leizarraga reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Damaso Darien in the 78th minute of play forced LaGordoneta's goalkeeper Jorge Leizarraga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jesus Martino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Jorge Leizarraga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Pikas's Ernesto Beturian got a free kick in the 86th minute. When Hilario Hulberto came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the LaGordoneta fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hilario Hulberto couldn't finish the play. If Rogelio Lico had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alfredo Kismi made an important save on a dangerous shot by Leandro Ermengol in the 93rd minute. The supporters of LaGordoneta booed when Pikas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Camilo Gonza didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pikas's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
