To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 7 played minutes Muñoz got a freekick which was hit by Norberto Telo. After 9 played minutes Muñoz got a freekick which was hit by Rafael Endira. Guido Montel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Erubiel Demario in the 10th minute of the match. Muñoz's Guido Montel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Erubiel Demario in the 11th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Guaberto Artizar got free with Guido Montel in the 15th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Guido Montel made an important save on a dangerous shot by Guaberto Artizar in the 18th minute. When Muñoz's Ciro Selatse in the 22nd minute got a chance for a shot 22nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Erubiel Demario stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Guaberto Artizar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Guido Montel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Guaberto Artizar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Union y Cultura's Victor Raymon proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 90th minute of the match, managed to save Union y Cultura from getting a goal against them. When Guaberto Artizar came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the Union y Cultura fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Guaberto Artizar couldn't finish the play. Erubiel Demario sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Muñoz were furious when Bernabe Sotil was red carded, 95 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 94th minute of the game. One of Muñoz:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Union y Cultura:s goal. The referee gave Union y Cultura a penalty, 98 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Lucio Resto, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Muñoz's Guido Montel. 1-0. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Union y Cultura had won after a very even match.
