The audience thought a goal was coming when Ariel Maore got free with Arturo Milian in the 27th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a defensive mix-up in Lugano's zone, Albino Estebe stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Arturo Milian came out of the goal and Albino Estebe tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Albino Estebe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. In the 39th minute Albino Carlomagno shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Celestino Orzaize saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Centro Español fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Celestino Orzaize should have stopped the shot. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and German Beila made a kick off. The supporters of Centro Español booed when Lugano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edgard Pelagius didn't get a good kick on the ball. After taking down the ball on Centro Español's corner Isaias Bidun fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Arturo Milian quite easily take care of the ball. A collision led to Lugano getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Cirilo Ortle hit a great ball. The Lugano supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Lugano would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
