Albino Carlomagno could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 10th minute of the match, but Eloy Liberto made a huge save. Albino Carlomagno blasted a shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Eloy Liberto having to make a save. The audience thought a goal was coming when German Beila got free with Eloy Liberto in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Orlando Herauso in the 20th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arturo Milian prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 24th minute the ball was on its way in behind Shurima FC's goalkeeper Eloy Liberto, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Eloy Liberto made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when German Beila sent off a good shot on target. Apolo Alonso charged in rather forcefully in the 42nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Apolo Alonso the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 42nd minute of the game. One of Shurima FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Lugano:s goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

After having played for 52 minutes, Orlando Herauso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Shurima FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Orlando Herauso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 0-1 became the score in the 53rd minute when Orlando Herauso elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. 56 minutes into the match, Lugano's goalkeeper Arturo Milian had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Amado Mero. Arturo Milian was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Modesto Bonifaco. In the 84th minute, Robustiano Sauveur reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Arturo Milian. The goal made the score 1-2. After a rather tough play, Shurima FC's Modesto Bonifaco got a free kick in the 93rd minute. The audience held their breath when Camilo Calixto in the 95th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Eloy Liberto's left hand side. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Lugano lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
