The Independiente fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. 10 minutes into the match, Atlético Vinland's goal looked a bit too open when Nemesio Gaitan came free, but Paulo Niva reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Prudencio Pueblo in the 12th minute of play forced Atlético Vinland's goalkeeper Paulo Niva to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 14th minute Nemesio Gaitan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulo Niva saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match clock showed 15 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Baldomiro Naelio sped through Atlético Vinland's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Paulo Niva. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomás Brion in the 18th minute of play forced Independiente's goalkeeper Reynaldo Elequemedo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 18 minutes into the game, Erasmo Montez was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Independiente's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Atlético Vinland the free kick. In the 19th minute, Erasmo Montez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Prudencio Pueblo scored 0-3 in the 20th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Paulo Niva, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. During the 23rd minute of the match Erasmo Montez completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Erasmo Montez a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The supporters of Atlético Vinland booed when Independiente was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Erasmo Montez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Reynaldo Elequemedo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomás Brion, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. Prudencio Pueblo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulo Niva having to interfere. Prudencio Pueblo scored 0-5 in the 38th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Paulo Niva, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 42 minutes into the game, Independiente's Nemesio Gaitan nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Paulo Niva showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nemesio Gaitan, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. After some careless play in the Independiente defense, Cirilo Santos kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Reynaldo Elequemedo. The Independiente fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Reynaldo Elequemedo should have stopped the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Prudencio Pueblo during the 66th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Anibal Ponce's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Paulo Niva read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 69th minute of play. In the 70th match minute, Atlético Vinland was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bernardino Firmin to maneuver through the defense. Independiente's Nemesio Gaitan got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With an all-out effort, Independiente's Paulo Niva threw himself towards the right post 78 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Andres Eufrasio, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After a defensive mix-up in Atlético Vinland's zone, Prudencio Pueblo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paulo Niva came out of the goal and Prudencio Pueblo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Paulo Niva made an important save on a dangerous shot by Prudencio Pueblo in the 81st minute. Martin Iaki sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 91 minutes of play, Independiente's Prudencio Pueblo made it 1-7 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Paulo Niva was left in no man's land by his defense there! Independiente's Reynaldo Elequemedo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cirilo Santos in the 95th minute of play. Independiente's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
