The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Luciano Tancredo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz de Senna in the 10th minute of play. 11 minutes into the game, Luiz de Senna recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Luciano Tancredo. Luiz de Senna showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. After 14th play minutes Luis Guillelme shot 2-0, a short shot which went by Luciano Tancredo and just under the crossbar into goal. Fabian Gorka received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Luciano Tancredo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luciano Tancredo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luiz de Senna, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mauro Calvet made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Isaac Txaran in the 23rd minute of play. Baldomiro Lain sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 27 played minutes Club Atlético Saavedra got a freekick which was hit by Florencio Sarracino. Luiz de Senna's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Luciano Tancredo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 30th minute of play. The supporters of Club Atlético Saavedra booed when Polvorines AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juan Galindo didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Luis Guillelme had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Club Atlético Saavedra's Mauro Calvet played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Isaac Txaran in the 43rd minute of play. Ceferino Ilixo kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. If Isaac Txaran had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.
