The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Racing Club's Emiliano Ixidor sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kjell-Arne Falkrans narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Racing Club were awarded a corner in the 11th minute after Cuervo's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Emiliano Ixidor took the corner. Racing Club's Emiliano Ixidor got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Delmiro Pereyras short, quick shot in the 21stth minute got Kjell-Arne Falkrans to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Racing Club's Emiliano Ixidor got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dalmacio Vincente fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Romeo Abreu having to interfere. Delmiro Pereyra blasted a shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Kjell-Arne Falkrans having to make a save. Racing Club's Romeo Abreu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fidel Lauaxeta in the 37th minute of play. Emiliano Ixidor fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kjell-Arne Falkrans having to interfere. Emiliano Ixidor struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Kjell-Arne Falkrans didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Racing Club. Delmiro Pereyra charged in rather forcefully in the 44th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Delmiro Pereyra the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Delmiro Pereyra hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Emiliano Ixidor recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Mendi Hima fell near the penalty area in the 57th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cuervo's protests and gave Mendi Hima a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Cuervo getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Mendi Hima hit a great ball. Kjell-Arne Falkrans showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emiliano Ixidor, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Emiliano Ixidor sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fidel Lauaxeta could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 63rd minute of the match, but Romeo Abreu made a huge save. Artemio Ponciano charged in rather forcefully in the 66th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Artemio Ponciano the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Racing Club's Artemio Ponciano got a free kick in the 66th minute. If Delmiro Pereyra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Racing Club's Delmiro Pereyra in the 76th minute got a chance for a shot 76th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Cuervo's goalie prevented a goal. Kjell-Arne Falkrans made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Delmiro Pereyra in the 78th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Delmiro Pereyra in the 79th minute of play forced Cuervo's goalkeeper Kjell-Arne Falkrans to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 83rd minute Dalmacio Vincente shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Romeo Abreu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Emiliano Ixidor received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Kjell-Arne Falkrans tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Delmiro Pereyra's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Kjell-Arne Falkrans read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play. In the 94th minute, Emiliano Ixidor ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Kjell-Arne Falkrans was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Racing Club were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Cuervo for a fine match.
