Ciriaco Abeijon came out of the goal in the 4th minute to try and stop a shot by Independiente's Francisco Peli. But to his dismay, Francisco Peli quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 12 minutes into the game, Eleuterio Abella was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Independiente's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Club Deportivo Sánchez the free kick. Eleuterio Abella kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. Ciriaco Abeijon stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Francisco Peli's shot from short distance in the 17th minute. Ciriaco Abeijon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Diki Schoenmakers in the 18th minute of play. Ciriaco Abeijon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Francisco Peli in the 21st minute of the match. Ciriaco Abeijon stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Francisco Peli's shot from short distance in the 22nd minute. In the 23rd minute Francisco Peli shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ciriaco Abeijon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ciriaco Abeijon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Diki Schoenmakers in the 24th minute of play. Damaso Havier hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. Ciriaco Abeijon stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Francisco Peli's shot from short distance in the 31st minute. Ciriaco Abeijon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Francisco Peli, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Diki Schoenmakers struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Ciriaco Abeijon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Independiente. After a defensive mix-up in Club Deportivo Sánchez's zone, Francisco Peli stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ciriaco Abeijon came out of the goal and Francisco Peli tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ciriaco Abeijon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Francisco Peli in the 42nd minute of play. When Diki Schoenmakers came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Independiente fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Diki Schoenmakers couldn't finish the play. Francisco Peli received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Ciriaco Abeijon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eleuterio Abella recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The Club Deportivo Sánchez players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Independiente were winning 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Francisco Peli was the one to do the kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Club Deportivo Sánchez's goal looked a bit too open when Francisco Peli came free, but Ciriaco Abeijon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice moves Diki Schoenmakers could shoot a difficult shot in the 52nd minute, which Ciriaco Abeijon however easily saved by the left post. Ciriaco Abeijon stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Francisco Peli's shot from short distance in the 55th minute. Diki Schoenmakers took the ball and in the 56 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ciriaco Abeijon. Ciriaco Abeijon dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. In the 60thth minute of the game Diki Schoenmakers who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Club Deportivo Sánchez's Ciriaco Abeijon was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Independiente's Francisco Peli in the 61st minute got a chance for a shot 61st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Club Deportivo Sánchez's goalie prevented a goal. Ciriaco Abeijon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Francisco Peli in the 63rd minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Francisco Peli in the 65th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ciriaco Abeijon saved Club Deportivo Sánchez from getting behind. Eleuterio Abella sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Ciriaco Abeijon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Francisco Peli, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 69th minute, Diki Schoenmakers got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Diki Schoenmakers got free with Ciriaco Abeijon in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the last second Ciriaco Abeijon throw himself and got hold of the ball when Francisco Peli in the 73rdth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. 83 minutes into the match, Club Deportivo Sánchez's goal looked a bit too open when Francisco Peli came free, but Ciriaco Abeijon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 85 minutes in the game, Francisco Peli fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Ciriaco Abeijon having to interfere. With a little luck, Club Deportivo Sánchez's Ciriaco Abeijon got control of the ball when Diki Schoenmakers tried to sneak it across the goal line. 87 minutes into the game, Francisco Peli lined in a short shot 0-4 behind a frustrated Ciriaco Abeijon. Francisco Peli might have been able to make a better finish in the 92nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ciriaco Abeijon. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Francisco Peli ran back to his position shaking his head. Independiente's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
