The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Cayetano Gelmiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rogelio Ieltxu in the 8th minute of the match. The supporters of Sol y Sierra FC booed when Newells was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonas Policarpio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ciro Chaime recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 11th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 15 minutes into the match, Sol y Sierra FC's goal looked a bit too open when Julio Ortzi came free, but Cayetano Gelmiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rogelio Ieltxu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Cayetano Gelmiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Julio Ortzi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Newells booed when Sol y Sierra FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ciro Chaime didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Newells's zone, Silvano Frutos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. German Lizbeth came out of the goal and Silvano Frutos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Sol y Sierra FC booed when Newells was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ciro Chaime in the 26th minute of play forced Newells's goalkeeper German Lizbeth to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 29th minute Mauro Farias shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but German Lizbeth saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 33 minutes into the game, Santiago Perrando cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Cayetano Gelmiro was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 39th minute, Silvano Frutos left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sol y Sierra FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. German Lizbeth took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ciro Chaime, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 43 minutes into the match, Newells's goal looked a bit too open when Ciro Chaime came free, but German Lizbeth reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 46 minutes, Santiago Perrando managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Newells's supporters crossed their fingers, but Santiago Perrando was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.

In the 51stth minute of the game Silvano Frutos who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Newells's German Lizbeth was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 54th minute, Sergio Indalecio ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. German Lizbeth was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mauro Farias in the 57th minute of play forced Newells's goalkeeper German Lizbeth to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Santiago Perrando sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Julio Ortzi came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Newells fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Julio Ortzi couldn't finish the play. After 75 played minutes Sol y Sierra FC got a freekick which was hit by Mauro Farias. An unexpected shot in the 76th minute by Rogelio Ieltxu got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Santiago Perrando in the 76th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cayetano Gelmiro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Santiago Perrando sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 85th minute Julio Ortzi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cayetano Gelmiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cayetano Gelmiro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Santiago Perrando in the 92nd minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sergio Indalecio during the 94th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 94th minute, Sergio Indalecio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the referee blew the final whistle, Sol y Sierra FC could leave the field as winners, despite Newells having more of the ball for most of the match.
