Constantino Fidencio made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. The audience was convinced that Santiago Perrando's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Constantino Fidencio was relentless in the 44th minute of the game. The attack was good, but when Santiago Perrando in the 77th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Newells's Santiago Perrando got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Huaycama getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Felix Gudesteo hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rogelio Ieltxu got free with Constantino Fidencio in the 85th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eusebio Costante in the 87th minute of play forced Newells's goalkeeper German Lizbeth to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 90th minute of the match Eustacio Guillelmo shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but German Lizbeth showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Constantino Fidencio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Santiago Perrando, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Julio Ortzi struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Constantino Fidencio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Newells. Newells's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
