After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Julio Ortzi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Newells's supporters rose to their feet, but Julio Ortzi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Viktor Kalkanov breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 23 minutes into the match, Patagonia's Braulio Bide sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that German Lizbeth narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Julio Ortzi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Julio Ortzi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Viktor Kalkanov having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rogelio Ieltxu in the 33rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Viktor Kalkanov saved Patagonia from getting behind. Marcos Pereyra was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 35 minutes into the match. Marcos Pereyra hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Dante Quintana made a kick off. German Lizbeth made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dante Quintana in the 52nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dante Quintana in the 54th minute of play forced Newells's goalkeeper German Lizbeth to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 54 played minutes Newells got a freekick which was hit by Jonas Policarpio. In the 59th minute, Feliciano Astudillo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Viktor Kalkanov came out of the goal and Rogelio Ieltxu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Newells getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Haroldo Lucado hit a great ball. 91 minutes into the match, Newells's goal looked a bit too open when Dante Quintana came free, but German Lizbeth reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 92nd minute Marco Gaueko shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but German Lizbeth saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marco Gaueko sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Newells's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
