In the 12th minute of the match Jonas Policarpio sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Santos Bingen skillfully saved the ball. 16 minutes into the match, Viejo Tom's goal looked a bit too open when Rogelio Ieltxu came free, but Santos Bingen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eustacio Crispo in the 17th minute of play forced Newells's goalkeeper German Lizbeth to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Viejo Tom's Bartolo Belmiro quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Guillermo Dimo, made in the 19th minute of the game. Isaias Ezkerra hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Santos Bingen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julio Ortzi in the 21st minute of the match. Viejo Tom's Mariano Geleberto couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 31st minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Newells. If Benito Aballe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Santos Bingen came out of the goal in the 39th minute to try and stop a shot by Newells's Julio Ortzi. But to his dismay, Julio Ortzi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 42nd minute Rogelio Ieltxu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Santos Bingen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. German Lizbeth didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Eustacio Crispo went, in the 44th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Julio Ortzi to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 51st match minute, Viejo Tom was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cecilio Seguinus to maneuver through the defense. 53 minutes into the match, Newells's Julio Ortzi sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Santos Bingen narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 55 minutes Viejo Tom's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Santiago Perrando who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Santiago Perrando got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Santos Bingen quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The supporters of Newells booed when Viejo Tom was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benito Aballe didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rogelio Ieltxu blasted a shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Santos Bingen having to make a save. Rogelio Ieltxu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rogelio Ieltxu couldn't finish the play. In the 76th minute, Eustacio Crispo made a precise shot to the right of German Lizbeth. Newells's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Julio Ortzi during the 79th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 82nd minute Rogelio Ieltxu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Santos Bingen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee ignored Viejo Tom's protests and gave Isaias Ezkerra a yellow card for diving instead. Newells's Rogelio Ieltxu got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Viejo Tom's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
