After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Maximo Aimar managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hongo FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Maximo Aimar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arnaldo Loramendi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 8 minutes into the match, Tomas Louis had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Hector Hodei. Hongo FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tomas Louis was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Victorio Luken in the 16th minute of play forced Hongo FC's goalkeeper Hector Hodei to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Ensenada AFC defense, Valentin Tome kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Arnaldo Loramendi. The Ensenada AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Arnaldo Loramendi should have stopped the shot. Arnaldo Loramendi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maximo Aimar in the 26th minute of play. Tomas Louis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Hector Hodei tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Victorio Luken fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hector Hodei having to interfere. If Maximo Aimar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arnaldo Loramendi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Maximo Aimar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Arnaldo Loramendi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maximo Aimar in the 45th minute of play. 47 minutes into the game, Valentin Tome cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Arnaldo Loramendi was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After the first half Hongo FC were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Victorio Luken stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Through an outstanding action, after 68 minutes, Arnaldo Loramendi successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. When Valentin Tome came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Hongo FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Valentin Tome couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Valentin Tome's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Arnaldo Loramendi was relentless in the 80th minute of the game. Hector Hodei took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Victorio Luken, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
