Gregorio Rexino's late challenge caught a Saint Etienne FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gregorio Rexino helped the player get up and apologised. After 29 played minutes Villa Castelar got a freekick which was hit by Gregorio Rexino. Fausto Odilon charged in rather forcefully in the 32nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fausto Odilon the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 33rd minute, Fausto Odilon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Saint Etienne FC's Claudio Normando proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 35th minute of the match, managed to save Saint Etienne FC from getting a goal against them. With his leg Claudio Normando managed to avoid a goal in the 35thth minute, when Villa Castelar's Igor Serapio fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Igor Serapios short, quick shot in the 41stth minute got Claudio Normando to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Emanuel Gigliotti in the 44th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marco Isias prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 47 minutes into the match, Saint Etienne FC's goalkeeper Claudio Normando had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gregorio Rexino. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The wind increased when Igor Serapio made the kick off in the second half. After having played for 53 minutes, Igor Serapio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Villa Castelar's supporters crossed their fingers, but Igor Serapio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some careless play in the Villa Castelar defense, Emanuel Gigliotti kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marco Isias. The Villa Castelar fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marco Isias should have stopped the shot. Emanuel Gigliotti recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Maximino Errapel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Saint Etienne FC made a substitution. In the 85th minute Igor Serapio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Claudio Normando saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 86 minutes Saint Etienne FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Raul Mikelar who took care of the corner kick. Horacio Fresco made a great header on Villa Castelar's corner, it was just that Saint Etienne FC's Claudio Normando managed to reach the ball for a save. Villa Castelar's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Raul Mikelar in the 88th minute. Villa Castelar's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
