In the 15th minute Jürgen Klinsmann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ulises Donostia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Troizen Von Bischhoffshausen hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Through an outstanding action, after 21 minutes, Ulises Donostia successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 22nd minute Rayo Vallecano. were awarded a corner. Fulgencio Quico went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Julian Jenkot almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Calabria Norte's Ulises Donostia did a great save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Troizen Von Bischhoffshausen got free with Ulises Donostia in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Through an outstanding action, after 26 minutes, Ulises Donostia successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 27 minutes into the game, Tadeo Ferdinand was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rayo Vallecano.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Calabria Norte the free kick. In the 27th minute, Tadeo Ferdinand hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Fulgencio Lope fell near the penalty area in the 30th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Calabria Norte's protests and gave Fulgencio Lope a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Calabria Norte getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Fulgencio Lope hit a great ball. Calabria Norte's Ulises Donostia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jürgen Klinsmann in the 31st minute of play. In the 32nd minute Cristian Lehior suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. When Tadeo Ferdinand was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 32 minutes had been played. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Clis Comas made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Troizen Von Bischhoffshausen in the 54th minute of play forced Calabria Norte's goalkeeper Ulises Donostia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ulises Donostia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emanuel Pelayo in the 56th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Calabria Norte's zone, Clis Comas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ulises Donostia came out of the goal and Clis Comas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Troizen Von Bischhoffshausen took the ball and in the 63 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ulises Donostia. Ulises Donostia dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. After some careless play in the Calabria Norte defense, Clis Comas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ulises Donostia. The Calabria Norte fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ulises Donostia should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Calabria Norte getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Eustaquio Otsoa hit a great ball. In the 74th minute Clis Comas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ulises Donostia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Troizen Von Bischhoffshausen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 77 minutes into the game, Clis Comas cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-0. Ulises Donostia was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 81 minutes, Clis Comas made it 6-0 with a short kick to the right side. Calabria Norte's Ulises Donostia tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Rayo Vallecano.'s Dong Zhi Hong played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Epifanio Tuste in the 87th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Clis Comas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rayo Vallecano.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Clis Comas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ulises Donostia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Clis Comas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Troizen Von Bischhoffshausen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ulises Donostia having to interfere. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Rayo Vallecano. had played much better football throughout.
