In the 3rd minute of the match Nilton Botelho sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Martin Gabon skillfully saved the ball. In the 4th minute, Eugenio Tiso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 6th minute Jaime Loreto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Martin Gabon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Jaime Loreto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 18th minute of the match Alfredo Raymundo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Martin Gabon skillfully saved the ball. In the 19th minute Jaime Loreto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Martin Gabon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 22 minutes into the match, Medellín AFC's Bernardo Poz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Charlie Saunders narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 25th minute, Jaime Loreto ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Martin Gabon was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Martin Gabon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jaime Loreto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 30th minute, Melchor Fidensio ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Charlie Saunders was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Melchor Fidensio might have been able to make a better finish in the 33rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Charlie Saunders. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Melchor Fidensio ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience thought a goal was coming when Melchor Fidensio got free with Charlie Saunders in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Calchín FC booed when Medellín AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eugenio Tiso didn't get a good kick on the ball. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Melchor Fidensio made the kick off in the second half. Martin Gabon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jaime Loreto, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. After having played for 58 minutes, Jaime Loreto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Calchín FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jaime Loreto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Medellín AFC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 63rd minute, when Jaime Loreto scored to the left of an out of position Martin Gabon, making the score, 1-2. Charlie Saunders made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Melchor Fidensio in the 68th minute of play. Melchor Fidensio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Melchor Fidensio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 80th minute Jaime Loreto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Martin Gabon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jaime Loreto in the 81st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Martin Gabon saved Medellín AFC from getting behind. If Melchor Fidensio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eugenio Tiso hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. Martin Gabon made an important save on a dangerous shot by Erubiel Basualdo in the 89th minute. Bernardo Poz charged in rather forcefully in the 90th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bernardo Poz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Bernardo Poz hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. In the 91st match minute, Medellín AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eugenio Tiso to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Medellín AFC's zone, Erubiel Basualdo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Martin Gabon came out of the goal and Erubiel Basualdo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 94 minutes into the match, Medellín AFC's goalkeeper Martin Gabon had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Erubiel Basualdo. Martin Gabon came out of the goal in the 95th minute to try and stop a shot by Calchín FC's Erubiel Basualdo. But to his dismay, Erubiel Basualdo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. The Calchín FC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
