Oscar Urtzi came out of the goal in the 4th minute to try and stop a shot by New York RB's Salvador Cidro. But to his dismay, Salvador Cidro quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 7th minute, Salvador Cidro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Oscar Urtzi was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. A collision led to Argentinos Juniors getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Alfredo Onbera hit a great ball. After some careless play in the Argentinos Juniors defense, Elias Belarmo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Oscar Urtzi. The Argentinos Juniors fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Oscar Urtzi should have stopped the shot. After a defensive mix-up in New York RB's zone, Alfredo Onbera stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Domingos Hermon came out of the goal and Alfredo Onbera tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 21 minutes into the match, Argentinos Juniors's goal looked a bit too open when Salvador Cidro came free, but Oscar Urtzi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Aquilino Joseph hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. Oscar Urtzi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Everardo Lizbeth in the 25th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elias Belarmo in the 26th minute of play forced Argentinos Juniors's goalkeeper Oscar Urtzi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Aquilino Joseph had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a defensive mix-up in Argentinos Juniors's zone, Elias Belarmo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Oscar Urtzi came out of the goal and Elias Belarmo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Argentinos Juniors's Oscar Urtzi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elias Belarmo in the 38th minute of play. Domingos Hermon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Octavio Urtsin, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. After some careless play in the Argentinos Juniors defense, Salvador Cidro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Oscar Urtzi. The Argentinos Juniors fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Oscar Urtzi should have stopped the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Elias Belarmo made a kick off. Oscar Urtzi made an important save on a dangerous shot by Elias Belarmo in the 55th minute. Thanks to some nice moves Elias Belarmo could shoot a difficult shot in the 58th minute, which Oscar Urtzi however easily saved by the left post. In the 61st match minute, New York RB was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Osvaldo Medina to maneuver through the defense. When Aquilino Joseph came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Argentinos Juniors fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aquilino Joseph couldn't finish the play. In the 69th match minute, Argentinos Juniors was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aquilino Joseph to maneuver through the defense. Salvador Cidro blasted a shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Oscar Urtzi having to make a save. In the 81st minute, Elias Belarmo reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Oscar Urtzi. The goal made the score 0-5. In the 85th minute Alfredo Onbera shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Domingos Hermon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Aquilino Joseph received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Domingos Hermon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 97 minutes into the match, Elias Belarmo notched a goal, 0-6, to the right of Argentinos Juniors's Oscar Urtzi. Oscar Urtzi was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The New York RB supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing New York RB would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
