The audience thought a goal was coming when Hector Mannuel got free with Horacio Janpier in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 14th minute, one of Coronel Pringles:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Coronel Pringles. In the 16th minute there was a penalty for Banfield. Gaston Eliu stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Aristides Olayo. 0-1. Horacio Janpier showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Orlando Casado in the 20th minute of the match. 25 minutes into the game, Vinicio Argenis was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Coronel Pringles's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Banfield the free kick. Vinicio Argenis kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. But to his dismay, Paolo Eyague quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. The Coronel Pringles players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Banfield were winning 0-2.

The supporters of Banfield booed when Coronel Pringles was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Albino Cordarryl didn't get a good kick on the ball. Albino Cordarryl hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. If Eulalio Frederico had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Aristides Olayo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Serafin Lehen in the 58th minute of play. Aristides Olayo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Eulalio Frederico in the 60th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 62nd minute, Vinicio Argenis managed to get in a good position for a shot. Coronel Pringles's supporters rose to their feet, but Vinicio Argenis was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Horacio Janpier dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2.
