Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Serafin Lehen got the match started through his kick off. In the 5th minute, Sixto Ibon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 8th minute of the match, Serafin Lehen tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Jacobo Lucero saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After 12 minutes, Aaron Gora mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Independiente and the Banfield players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 12th match minute, Independiente was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aaron Gora to maneuver through the defense. Independiente's Jacobo Lucero played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Serafin Lehen in the 16th minute of play. Jacobo Lucero took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Serafin Lehen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jacobo Lucero made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Serafin Lehen in the 19th minute of play. When Serafin Lehen came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Banfield fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Serafin Lehen couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Serafin Lehen's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jacobo Lucero was relentless in the 28th minute of the game. In the 31st minute Serafin Lehen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacobo Lucero saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Serafin Lehen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jacobo Lucero took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Serafin Lehen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Bernardo Pirmin managed to get in a good position for a shot. Independiente's supporters rose to their feet, but Bernardo Pirmin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Horacio Janpier breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bernardo Pirmin made a kick off. Jacobo Lucero didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Christian Lastur went, in the 55th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Aaron Gora got his second yellow card in the match during the 61st minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. The supporters of Banfield booed when Independiente was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aaron Gora didn't get a good kick on the ball. 64 minutes into the game, Serafin Lehen cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Jacobo Lucero was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Jorge Sanson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 67th minute of the match, but Horacio Janpier made a huge save. Serafin Lehen's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jacobo Lucero read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 69th minute of play. In the 73rd minute, Serafin Lehen ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jacobo Lucero was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. Jacobo Lucero showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Serafin Lehen, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. 85 minutes into the match, Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Serafin Lehen came free, but Jacobo Lucero reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Serafin Lehen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Independiente's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
