Through an outstanding action, after 18 minutes, Marcial Paskal successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Club Atletico River Plate's Irmantas Inčiūra quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Angelino Cristofor, made in the 19th minute of the game. In the 25th minute of the game Angelino Cristofor made a throw-in which Cayetano Dodorol played forward. Club Atletico River Plate's Csaba Cziránku played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kemal Müfit in the 28th minute of play. Alejandro Etxeberri hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Marcial Paskal acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 32nd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Maicon Cordeiro. 35 minutes into the match, Club Atletico River Plate's goal looked a bit too open when Gaudencio Bixintxo came free, but Csaba Cziránku reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 36th match minute, Club Atletico River Plate was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Higinio Burutzagi to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Gaudencio Bixintxo managed to get in a good position for a shot. San Martin de Tucumán's supporters rose to their feet, but Gaudencio Bixintxo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Csaba Cziránku breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Csaba Cziránku made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kemal Müfit in the 40th minute of play. After 43 minutes, Hilario Rius mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the San Martin de Tucumán and the Club Atletico River Plate players grew even worse after the yellow card. Hilario Rius hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. San Martin de Tucumán's defense didn't have a chance, in the 45th minute, when Irmantas Inčiūra scored to the left of an out of position Marcial Paskal, making the score, 2-1. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Irmantas Inčiūra to make the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kemal Müfit got free with Csaba Cziránku in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. San Martin de Tucumán were awarded a corner in the 64th minute after Club Atletico River Plate's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gaudencio Bixintxo took the corner. After taking down the ball on San Martin de Tucumán's corner Hilario Rius fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Csaba Cziránku quite easily take care of the ball. After a rather tough play, San Martin de Tucumán's Jonas Lluis got a free kick in the 66th minute. Fulgencio Bilintx fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcial Paskal having to interfere. Alejandro Etxeberri made in the 71st minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Braulio Cordario however managed to control. Hilario Rius kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. After 75 played minutes San Martin de Tucumán got a freekick which was hit by Gaudencio Bixintxo. If Irmantas Inčiūra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 79th minute the ball was on its way in behind Club Atletico River Plate's goalkeeper Csaba Cziránku, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alejandro Etxeberri during the 83rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Club Atletico River Plate's Lorenzo Jaunti got a free kick in the 85th minute. Gaudencio Bixintxo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Csaba Cziránku tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to San Martin de Tucumán getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Alejandro Etxeberri got a throw-in 90 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Braulio Cordario. 91 minutes into the game, Cornelio Sanchez was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Club Atletico River Plate's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave San Martin de Tucumán the free kick. Cornelio Sanchez hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. In the 92nd minute, one of Club Atletico River Plate:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Club Atletico River Plate. In the 96th minute there was a penalty for San Martin de Tucumán. Gaudencio Bixintxo stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Csaba Cziránku. 2-2. The San Martin de Tucumán players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Club Atletico River Plate from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
