Independiente's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. 0-3 became the score in the 15th minute when Jorge Cachorro elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. In the 23rd minute, Elpidio Martino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Independiente's zone, Nathan de Haan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ciro Unax came out of the goal and Nathan de Haan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 25th minute, Jorge Cachorro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ciro Unax was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. When the match clock showed 31 minutes, the score became 0-5 when Jorge Cachorro sped through Independiente's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Ciro Unax. Ciro Unax stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jorge Cachorro's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nathan de Haan in the 36th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ciro Unax saved Independiente from getting behind. Ciro Unax made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jorge Cachorro in the 41st minute of play. In the 46th match minute, Tigre was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sergey Charnikovich to maneuver through the defense. Disappointed in the 0-6 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Eriberto Nayely was the one to do the kick off. A hard shot 51 in the game by Nathan de Haan from a close distance when the talented Ciro Unax managed to make a qualified save. Independiente's players were relieved. Vicente Eyague took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eulalio Galeno, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ciro Unax made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jorge Cachorro in the 55th minute of play. If Nathan de Haan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 58 minutes, Nathan de Haan made it 0-7 with a short kick to the right side. Independiente's Ciro Unax tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. With a little luck, Independiente's Ciro Unax got control of the ball when Nathan de Haan tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 62 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Independiente! When the match had been going on for 63 minutes, Tigre's Nico Otamendi got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Ciro Unax. Jorge Cachorro had several of the Independiente's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 70 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-9 score and a disappointed Ciro Unax as he didn't even see the shot coming. Tigre made a substitution. Osvaldo Geofredo replaced Sergey Charnikovich. After some careless play in the Independiente defense, Osvaldo Geofredo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ciro Unax. The Independiente fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ciro Unax should have stopped the shot. In the 81st minute, Nathan de Haan fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Ciro Unax, passed just outside the right post. Osvaldo Geofredo scored 0-13 in the 86th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ciro Unax, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When Jorge Cachorro came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Tigre fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jorge Cachorro couldn't finish the play. In the 92nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Independiente's goalkeeper Ciro Unax, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Jorge Cachorro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ciro Unax having to interfere. Ciro Unax made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jorge Cachorro in the 98th minute of play. When the match was over Tigre could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Independiente throughout the match.
