The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some fancy dribbling in the 4th minute, Edgard Goiz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gran Pauta AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Edgard Goiz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rogelio Claris breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 7th match minute, Unión La Plata was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gaspar Muno to maneuver through the defense. Erasmo Min received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Rogelio Claris tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rogelio Claris was out of position in the 11 minute of play, and Aureliano Peru capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Aureliano Peru really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Aureliano Peru struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. Rogelio Claris didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gran Pauta AFC. The supporters of Unión La Plata booed when Gran Pauta AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rodrigo Feliz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Haroldo Olayo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Salvador Gilesindo in the 19th minute of play forced Gran Pauta AFC's goalkeeper Herbert Tyskie to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 21 minutes, Aureliano Peru mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gran Pauta AFC and the Unión La Plata players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Gran Pauta AFC's Aureliano Peru got a free kick in the 22nd minute. If Gaspar Muno had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Herbert Tyskie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Patricio Nofre in the 33rd minute of the match. 35 minutes into the game, Patricio Nofre cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Herbert Tyskie was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Gaspar Muno recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some careless play in the Gran Pauta AFC defense, Patricio Nofre kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Herbert Tyskie. The Gran Pauta AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Herbert Tyskie should have stopped the shot. 43 minutes into the match, Patricio Nofre notched a goal, 1-4, to the right of Gran Pauta AFC's Herbert Tyskie. Herbert Tyskie was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 47th minute, Patricio Nofre left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Unión La Plata fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-5. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-5.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Salvador Gilesindo was the one to do the kick off. Patricio Nofre scored 1-6 in the 61st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Herbert Tyskie, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Gaspar Muno scored 1-7 in the 73rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Herbert Tyskie, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Gran Pauta AFC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 77th minute, when Gaspar Muno scored to the left of an out of position Herbert Tyskie, making the score, 1-8. Herbert Tyskie made a fantastic save in the 81st minute, when Gaspar Muno sent off a good shot on target. When Edgard Goiz came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the Gran Pauta AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edgard Goiz couldn't finish the play. Rosendo Madeo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Gran Pauta AFC's Herbert Tyskie got control of the ball when Patricio Nofre tried to sneak it across the goal line. Salvador Gilesindo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Herbert Tyskie tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gran Pauta AFC were furious when Norberto Maxin was red carded, 95 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In a very dangerous position, a player in Gran Pauta AFC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 94th minute. Penalty! Roberto Ezkerra shot the penalty kick right outside the post. When the match was over Unión La Plata could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Gran Pauta AFC throughout the match.
