The audience was convinced that Aloísio Matias's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Melquiades Lauaxeta was relentless in the 36th minute of the game. Estrellas del Norte's Paolo Rencio got a good chance for a goal in the 48th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Santamarina F.C players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Estrellas del Norte were winning 0-4.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Aloísio Matias to make the kick off. Aloísio Matias received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Melquiades Lauaxeta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Aloísio Matias in the 95th play minute got the chance to kick a hard shot on goal from short distance neither the defense or Melquiades Lauaxeta kept up with the ball and suddenly the score was 0-10 when the ball slipped into goal inside the left pole. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Estrellas del Norte had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
