The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Armando Nuxila during the 16th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 16th match minute, Echegoyen FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Armando Nuxila to maneuver through the defense. Sixto Gilabert was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 18th minute. Echegoyen FC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. In the 23rd minute of the match Edgard Llorienzo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Milio Ortega skillfully saved the ball. In the 25th minute, Alonzo Iturri reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Jairo Lordi. The goal made the score 1-0. 28 minutes into the match, Tumbaya 1966 FC's goal looked a bit too open when Alonzo Iturri came free, but Jairo Lordi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Echegoyen FC's Milio Ortega played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ovidio Argi in the 30th minute of play. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Milio Ortega took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ovidio Argi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 43 minutes of play Echegoyen FC's Erasmo Hanni was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 44th match minute, Echegoyen FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Erasmo Hanni to maneuver through the defense. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Aureliano Ederono was the one to do the kick off. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. After a rather tough play, Tumbaya 1966 FC's Ignacio Azubeli got a free kick in the 72nd minute. Echegoyen FC's Sixto Gilabert got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Milio Ortega was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Aureliano Ederono's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Milio Ortega firmly grabbed it by the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ignacio Azubeli in the 96th minute of play forced Echegoyen FC's goalkeeper Milio Ortega to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Tumbaya 1966 FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Tumbaya 1966 FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
