In the 13th minute Teobald Galagan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leonardo Loi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Leonardo Loi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Teobald Galagan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jorge Gordillo was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 37 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 36th minute of the game. One of Argentinos Juniors:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Deportivo Villa:s goal. After a rather tough play, Deportivo Villa's Ovidio Jerico got a free kick in the 40th minute. A collision led to Deportivo Villa getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Álvaro Dracena hit a great ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Froilan Macario was the one to do the kick off. Enzo Fernandez charged in rather forcefully in the 53rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Enzo Fernandez the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fidel Lia in the 77th minute of play forced Argentinos Juniors's goalkeeper Leon Ado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Argentinos Juniors's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
