Racing Club's Diego Laurentzi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Uriel Lleir in the 13th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Racing Club's zone, Uriel Lleir stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Diego Laurentzi came out of the goal and Uriel Lleir tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Delmiro Peru hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Diego Laurentzi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Uriel Lleir in the 22nd minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Motu's Uriel Lleir slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Diego Laurentzi. That made the score 3-0 after 26 minutes of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Jim Brandt kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Diego Laurentzi. That made the score 4-0 in the 28 minute of play. With a little luck, Racing Club's Diego Laurentzi got control of the ball when Uriel Lleir tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Uriel Lleir in the 43rd minute of play forced Racing Club's goalkeeper Diego Laurentzi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 6-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Diego Laurentzi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anastasio Garaona in the 54th minute of play. After some careless play in the Racing Club defense, Anastasio Garaona kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Diego Laurentzi. The Racing Club fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Diego Laurentzi should have stopped the shot. If Uriel Lleir had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Diego Laurentzi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Uriel Lleir in the 56th minute of the match. Diego Laurentzi came out of the goal and Hipolito Osmundo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Hipolito Osmundo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 95 minutes into the match, Racing Club's goal looked a bit too open when Hipolito Osmundo came free, but Diego Laurentzi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Racing Club's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
