The Fortuna fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tassos Kefalas should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fernan Jayvier in the 16th minute of play forced Newell´s's goalkeeper Cristobal Estavan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cristobal Estavan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Santo Sindo in the 17th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Santo Sindo in the 17th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cristobal Estavan prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Mattias Wallengren sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 23 minutes into the match, Newell´s's goal looked a bit too open when Santo Sindo came free, but Cristobal Estavan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cristobal Estavan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Justino Arotza in the 26th minute of the match. In the 27th minute Fernan Jayvier shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristobal Estavan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Mattias Wallengren had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 34 minutes into the match, Fortuna's goalkeeper Tassos Kefalas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Omar Cordara. In the 37th minute Fernan Jayvier shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristobal Estavan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cristobal Estavan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Quentin Miller in the 44th minute of play. Cristobal Estavan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Santo Sindo in the 46th minute of the match. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Santo Sindo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Cristobal Estavan made a fantastic save in the 53rd minute, when Santo Sindo sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Quentin Miller got free with Cristobal Estavan in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Cristobal Estavan was out of position in the 59 minute of play, and Santo Sindo capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Santo Sindo really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. Newell´s's Cristobal Estavan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save Newell´s from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Santo Sindo in the 73rd minute of play forced Newell´s's goalkeeper Cristobal Estavan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 76 minutes into the match, Newell´s's goalkeeper Cristobal Estavan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Quentin Miller. Cristobal Estavan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Paublo in the 77th minute of the match. With an all-out effort, Fortuna's Cristobal Estavan threw himself towards the right post 86 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Julian Paublo, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Cristobal Estavan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Paublo in the 91st minute of play. In the 93rd minute Omar Cordara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tassos Kefalas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Isidoro Ramires's late challenge caught a Fortuna's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Isidoro Ramires helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Newell´s getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Isidoro Ramires hit a great ball. 97 minutes into the match, Fortuna's Alejandro Gandolfini broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. The Fortuna supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Fortuna would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
