With an all-out effort, Defensa y Justicia's Marcelino Nuxila threw himself towards the right post 13 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Ke Jun Xuan, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Rene Martinez hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. Defensa y Justicia's Eloy Gorka played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gustavo-Hernán Vallejo in the 19th minute of play. In the 21st minute Huang Bing Ran shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eloy Gorka saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Defensa y Justicia's Nunez Uzuri got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 24 minutes into the match, 1947 FC's goalkeeper Marcelino Nuxila had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bakar Castelo. Nunez Uzuri charged in rather forcefully in the 27th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nunez Uzuri the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 28th minute, Nunez Uzuri hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 29th minute Goren Baños shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eloy Gorka saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Bakar Castelo came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Defensa y Justicia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bakar Castelo couldn't finish the play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

After 51 minutes, Goren Baños mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the 1947 FC and the Defensa y Justicia players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of 1947 FC booed when Defensa y Justicia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcelino Nuxila showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Haroldo Javiero, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. After some careless play in the Defensa y Justicia defense, Ariel Bonachea kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Eloy Gorka. The Defensa y Justicia fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Eloy Gorka should have stopped the shot. 1947 FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
