Simão Ferreira didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Astor Padro went, in the 9th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. In the 12th match minute, Capillas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Atilano Gergori to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Capillas's Victorino Guillelmo got a free kick in the 16th minute. In the 23rd minute, Jorge Rafael made a precise shot to the right of Simão Ferreira. Capillas's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. Capillas's Simão Ferreira proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 26th minute of the match, managed to save Capillas from getting a goal against them. After having played for 27 minutes, Jorge Rafael managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. River Plate's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jorge Rafael was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Amerigo Di Mattia kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Simão Ferreira. That made the score 4-0 in the 31 minute of play. Astor Padro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Simão Ferreira made a huge save. Simão Ferreira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Victorio Brais, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bogumil Dawiec made in the 38th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Jorge Rafael immediately put the ball in play. In the 40th minute, River Plate's Amerigo Di Mattia dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 5-0. The supporters of River Plate booed when Capillas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Clodoveo Turi didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Victorio Brais in the 48th minute of play forced Capillas's goalkeeper Simão Ferreira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 5-0.
Benigno Rafe made a fantastic save in the 52nd minute, when Filiberto Florin sent off a good shot on target. Simão Ferreira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Astor Padro in the 53rd minute of the match. River Plate's attack was well implemented in the 53rd minute, but when Astor Padro was about to shoot he didn't get a good hit on the ball and it hit the crossbar and flew over. Goal Kick. Albano Erroman kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. 59 minutes into the match, Capillas's goal looked a bit too open when Bogumil Dawiec came free, but Simão Ferreira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Victorio Brais struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Simão Ferreira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for River Plate. Capillas's Simão Ferreira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Amerigo Di Mattia in the 63rd minute of play. In the 74th match minute, Capillas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Filiberto Florin to maneuver through the defense. In the 77th minute Amerigo Di Mattia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Simão Ferreira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Simão Ferreira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Astor Padro, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. Victorio Brais took the ball and in the 83 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Simão Ferreira. Simão Ferreira dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 8-0. In the 90th minute, Bogumil Dawiec left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The River Plate fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 9-0. Simão Ferreira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Amerigo Di Mattia, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Atilano Gergori got free with Benigno Rafe in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. River Plate had played much better football throughout.
