The audience was convinced that Victorino Tiniebra's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dário Pinho was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. Carmelo Orkatz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rogelio Policarpio in the 28th minute. Dário Pinho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Venancio Inko, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

In the 51st minute Rogelio Policarpio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carmelo Orkatz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Carmelo Orkatz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Antonello Roccuzzo, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. When the match clock showed 62 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Rogelio Policarpio sped through El Tiki-Tiki de Cappa's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Carmelo Orkatz.
