Arsenio Cordeal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Albino Feliu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Aaden Hutton's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Augusto Ellande read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 13th minute of play. Plebeyos's Arsenio Cordeal proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to save Plebeyos from getting a goal against them. The supporters of Mercedes booed when Plebeyos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cihan Uzkan didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Plebeyos's Zoilo Viejo got a free kick in the 25th minute. Mercedes's Anier Mon couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 25th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Plebeyos. 32 minutes into the match, Mercedes's goal looked a bit too open when Aaden Hutton came free, but Augusto Ellande reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Plebeyos's Arsenio Cordeal got control of the ball when Alvaro Abar tried to sneak it across the goal line. Kåre Uter fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Augusto Ellande having to interfere. Kåre Uter struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Augusto Ellande didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Plebeyos. 41 minutes into the match, Plebeyos's goal looked a bit too open when Santo Rumaldo came free, but Arsenio Cordeal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Manuel Morais in the 44th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arsenio Cordeal prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The Mercedes fans' excitement grew in the 44th match minute when Mercedes's Manuel Morais looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alvaro Abar stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Kåre Uter sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Melquiades Chinto made in the 54th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Plebeyos's Clemente Fe. Augusto Ellande showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aaden Hutton in the 55th minute of the match. In the 56th minute Manuel Morais shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arsenio Cordeal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 58 minutes into the game, Mercedes's Alvaro Abar nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Arsenio Cordeal made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Mercedes's Honorato Kauldi was substituted for Albino Feliu. Mercedes's Jan-Ivar Nordmo was substituted for Alvaro Abar. Mercedes made a substitution. Anibal Phelipe replaced Melquiades Chinto.
