The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Marcos Ranolfo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Toro Martínez, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. 16 minutes had been played when some careless play by Despidida AFC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Maximo Dei was slow to take the kick. During this time Estudiantes de América's players had a chance to rest. Marcos Ranolfo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Toro Martínez in the 17th minute of the match. Toro Martínez ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Toro Martínez in the 41st minute of play forced Estudiantes de América's goalkeeper Marcos Ranolfo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
