If Callum Goodwick had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Brian Newbury blasted a shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nicky Sawyer having to make a save. Nicky Sawyer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Callum Goodwick, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nicky Sawyer was out of position in the 8 minute of play, and Callum Goodwick capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Callum Goodwick really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. With a little luck, Easingwold AFC's Nicky Sawyer got control of the ball when Brian Newbury tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Wem United getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Rueben Hunt hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Brian Newbury managed to get in a good position for a shot. Wem United's supporters rose to their feet, but Brian Newbury was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nicky Sawyer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Callum Goodwick received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Nicky Sawyer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Garry Bates had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Rio Brewer fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Wem United's protests and gave Rio Brewer a yellow card for diving instead. Rio Brewer hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. A collision led to Wem United getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Rupert Boatman hit a great ball. In the 31st minute, Johnnie Brewer sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Wem United's Austin Eagles didn't even have to move. In the 36th minute, Stevie Winter hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nicky Sawyer was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 37th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Pete Burnett. The crowd rose to their feet as Wem United's Callum Goodwick slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Nicky Sawyer. That made the score 2-0 after 42 minutes of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Callum Goodwick made a kick off. After a rather tough play, Easingwold AFC's Basil Izzard got a free kick in the 52nd minute. Garry Batess short, quick shot in the 61stth minute got Austin Eagles to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Wem United's Callum Goodwick got a good chance for a goal in the 67th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nicky Sawyer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Callum Goodwick in the 70th minute of the match. If Garry Bates had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Garry Bates scored 2-1 in the 78th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Austin Eagles, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Wem United's defense didn't have a chance, in the 87th minute, when Louie Sharpe scored to the left of an out of position Austin Eagles, making the score, 2-3. 92 minutes into the match, Easingwold AFC's Garry Bates sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Austin Eagles narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Easingwold AFC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
