The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, Whiteley FC's Joel Sykes got a free kick in the 6th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mickey Frost in the 8th minute of play forced Whiteley FC's goalkeeper Paul Major to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Peter Crowther in the 16th minute of play forced Black Country AFC's goalkeeper Dion Hammond to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dion Hammond showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Peter Crowther, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. Austin Hurst struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Dion Hammond didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Whiteley FC. Whiteley FC's Peter Crowther got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mickey Frost fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paul Major having to interfere. Paul Major showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Grant Millman, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Mickey Frost received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Paul Major tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Peter Crowther stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Geoff Grainger hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. Dion Hammond took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Peter Crowther, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 59 played minutes Black Country AFC got a freekick which was hit by James Coombe. Sly Glanvill was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 60th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. A collision led to Whiteley FC getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Isaac Hunter hit a great ball. After 70 minutes, Bart Furlong mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Whiteley FC and the Black Country AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Black Country AFC booed when Whiteley FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bart Furlong didn't get a good kick on the ball. Peter Crowther struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Dion Hammond didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Whiteley FC. In the 80th minute, Denny Moxon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 82nd minute, Peter Crowther ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dion Hammond was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. In the 90th minute, Sly Glanvill hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 91st minute Grant Millman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paul Major saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Grant Millman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Black Country AFC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
