Southam City's Malcolm Osborn proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 9th minute of the match, managed to save Southam City from getting a goal against them. After 12 played minutes Darlington FC got a freekick which was hit by Dominik Hornsby. 13 minutes into the match, Kieran Clark had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Perry Burns. Darlington FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Kieran Clark was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Kris Medley could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 18th minute of the match, but Malcolm Osborn made a huge save. When Southam City's Guy Graydon in the 24th minute got a chance for a shot 24th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Darlington FC's goalie prevented a goal. Kieran Clark recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Kris Medley could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Malcolm Osborn made a huge save. Guy Graydon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Perry Burns tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 45th minute the ball was on its way in behind Darlington FC's goalkeeper Perry Burns, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Kieran Clark fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Perry Burns having to interfere. After the first half Southam City were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dave Rusby to strike the kick off in the second half. When Des Holden fell near the penalty area in the 51st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Southam City's protests and gave Des Holden a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Southam City getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Des Holden hit a great ball. Kris Medley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Malcolm Osborn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 61stth minute of the game Kris Medley who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Southam City's Malcolm Osborn was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dave Rusby in the 65th minute of play forced Southam City's goalkeeper Malcolm Osborn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kris Medley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Malcolm Osborn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 68th minute Dave Rusby shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Malcolm Osborn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kris Medley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Malcolm Osborn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kieran Clark fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Perry Burns having to interfere. Dave Rusby sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 90thth minute of the game Kris Medley who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Southam City's Malcolm Osborn was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Dave Rusby managed to get in a good position for a shot. Darlington FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Dave Rusby was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Malcolm Osborn breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Kris Medley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Malcolm Osborn having to interfere.
