Les Perryman who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 40thth minute tested the skills of Perry Burns when he managed to save the team from getting behind. When Kris Medley fell near the penalty area in the 43rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Darlington FC's protests and gave Kris Medley a yellow card for diving instead. After 44 played minutes Darlington FC got a freekick which was hit by Kris Medley. Jonathon Rose hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. Perry Burns made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Les Perryman in the 53rd minute of play. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Perry Burns took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Les Perryman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Les Perryman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 83 minutes into the match, Dave Rusby dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Lee Gascoigne, 4-1. After 88 played minutes Borussia Teignmouth FC got a freekick which was hit by Martin Washington. In the 92nd minute Les Perryman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Perry Burns saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
