The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Bill Pamplin took the kick off in the first half of the match. After a rather tough play, Neston's Isaac Kent got a free kick in the 2nd minute. 3 minutes into the match, Neston's goal looked a bit too open when Piers Pryor came free, but Sebastien Dimmock reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sammy Flynn took the ball and in the 4 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Sebastien Dimmock. Sebastien Dimmock dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Sebastien Dimmock took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Piers Pryor, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 9 minutes, Ged Yorke managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Neston's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ged Yorke was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Sammy Flynn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Piers Pryor received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Sebastien Dimmock tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sammy Flynn's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sebastien Dimmock read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Isaac Kent during the 19th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Neston getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Isaac Kent hit a great ball. When Bill Pamplin fell near the penalty area in the 21st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Neston's protests and gave Bill Pamplin a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Birmingham Selly Oak FC booed when Neston was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bill Pamplin didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sammy Flynn in the 23rd minute of play forced Neston's goalkeeper Sebastien Dimmock to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sammy Flynn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Sebastien Dimmock tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sebastien Dimmock made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Piers Pryor in the 29th minute of play. Isaac Kent kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sammy Flynn in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sebastien Dimmock saved Neston from getting behind. Sebastien Dimmock stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sammy Flynn's shot from short distance in the 32nd minute. Bill Pamplin kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. After 34 minutes, Sammy Flynn made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. Neston's Sebastien Dimmock tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Ged Yorke kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. The supporters of Birmingham Selly Oak FC booed when Neston was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bill Pamplin didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sammy Flynn in the 46th minute of play forced Neston's goalkeeper Sebastien Dimmock to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

The wind increased when Sammy Flynn made the kick off in the second half. Birmingham Selly Oak FC's Ronny Colman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Matt Baird in the 52nd minute of play. Sammy Flynn recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Sebastien Dimmock made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sammy Flynn in the 58th minute of play. In the 60thth minute of the game Sammy Flynn who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Neston's Sebastien Dimmock was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Piers Pryor got free with Sebastien Dimmock in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Sebastien Dimmock made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sammy Flynn in the 67th minute of play. Sebastien Dimmock made a fantastic save in the 73rd minute, when Piers Pryor sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Neston getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Isaac Kent hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Piers Pryor got free with Sebastien Dimmock in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Birmingham Selly Oak FC's Sammy Flynn in the 94th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Sebastien Dimmock was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Neston through an amazing save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Matt Baird during the 94th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Birmingham Selly Oak FC booed when Neston was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Matt Baird didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Birmingham Selly Oak FC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
