Phillip Deveraux was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Midfielders's Edward Hopton got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edward Hopton in the 9th minute of play forced Ashton-in-Makerfield's goalkeeper Phillip Deveraux to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Phillip Deveraux stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Calum Dingle's shot from short distance in the 10th minute. In the 12th minute Edward Hopton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Phillip Deveraux saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Ashton-in-Makerfield getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Junior Ingham hit a great ball. Calum Dingle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Phillip Deveraux having to interfere. Edward Hopton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Phillip Deveraux having to interfere. In the 21stth minute of the game Rory Wilkinson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Midfielders's Rex Forrest was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Ashton-in-Makerfield's Harvey Colbert got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 24th minute of the match Oliver Le Tissier sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Rex Forrest skillfully saved the ball. If Rory Wilkinson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 31st minute, one of Ashton-in-Makerfield:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Ashton-in-Makerfield. The referee gave Midfielders a penalty, 32 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Alfie Walton, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Ashton-in-Makerfield's Phillip Deveraux. 0-2. In the 36th minute, Edward Hopton made a precise shot to the right of Phillip Deveraux. Ashton-in-Makerfield's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Rory Wilkinson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Rex Forrest tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Ashton-in-Makerfield's Harvey Colbert in the 40th minute got a chance for a shot 40th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Rory Wilkinson was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th minute the ball was on its way in behind Midfielders's goalkeeper Rex Forrest, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Gaz Bridgewater fell near the penalty area in the 54th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Midfielders's protests and gave Gaz Bridgewater a yellow card for diving instead. 56 minutes into the match, Rory Wilkinson notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of Midfielders's Rex Forrest. Rex Forrest was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Gaz Bridgewater was shown his second yellow card after 60 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 60th minute, Gaz Bridgewater hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 61st minute of the match Harvey Colbert shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Rex Forrest showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Alistair Carpenter charged in rather forcefully in the 62nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alistair Carpenter the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Ashton-in-Makerfield booed when Midfielders was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alistair Carpenter didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 64th minute of the match Junior Ingham sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Rex Forrest skillfully saved the ball. Rex Forrest made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rory Wilkinson in the 67th minute of play. Harvey Colbert might have been able to make a better finish in the 72nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rex Forrest. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Harvey Colbert ran back to his position shaking his head. Rory Wilkinson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Harvey Colbert struck a weak shot in the 78th minute. Rex Forrest didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ashton-in-Makerfield. After having played for 86 minutes, Harvey Colbert managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ashton-in-Makerfield's supporters crossed their fingers, but Harvey Colbert was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 87th minute, Rio Watkinson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rory Wilkinson in the 90th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rex Forrest prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Harvey Colbert came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Ashton-in-Makerfield fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Harvey Colbert couldn't finish the play. In the 93rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Midfielders's goalkeeper Rex Forrest, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Rex Forrest showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Harvey Colbert in the 94th minute of the match. Calum Dingle hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. Midfielders were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Ashton-in-Makerfield's much stronger midfield.
