In the 28th minute the ball was on its way in behind Markaðsnetið's goalkeeper Valter Halsson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Valter Halsson made a fantastic save in the 31st minute, when Sigsteinn Valbergsson sent off a good shot on target. After 33 minutes, Freyr Elíasson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Markaðsnetið and the máni players grew even worse after the yellow card. Valter Halsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Snær Hauksson, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. 46 minutes into the match, Freyr Elíasson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Geirþjófur Bjarmarsson. máni's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Freyr Elíasson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After the first half Markaðsnetið were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Auðgeir Arnleifsson to make the kick off. Snær Hauksson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valter Halsson having to interfere. Sigsteinn Valbergsson struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Valter Halsson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for máni. If Sigsteinn Valbergsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sigsteinn Valbergsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 73rd minute Sigsteinn Valbergsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Valter Halsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. But to his dismay, Snær Hauksson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. After 79 minutes, Friðmar Greipsson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Markaðsnetið and the máni players grew even worse after the yellow card.
