The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 13th minute of the game. One of Hnoss Grímsey:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Grænu Tófurnar:s goal. After a defensive mix-up in Hnoss Grímsey's zone, Sæmann Almarsson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sigurbjarni Laufarsson came out of the goal and Sæmann Almarsson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Hnoss Grímsey's Hallberg Óskarsson got a free kick in the 22nd minute. After some careless play in the Hnoss Grímsey defense, Eggert Leifsson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sigurbjarni Laufarsson. The Hnoss Grímsey fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sigurbjarni Laufarsson should have stopped the shot. In the 28th minute, Sæmann Almarsson left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Grænu Tófurnar fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. In the 31st minute Eggert Leifsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sigurbjarni Laufarsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Grænu Tófurnar's zone, Oddkell Hjálmarsson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ingvaldur Aðalmundsson came out of the goal and Oddkell Hjálmarsson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 34 minutes into the match, Hnoss Grímsey's goal looked a bit too open when Eggert Leifsson came free, but Sigurbjarni Laufarsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 37 minutes of play, Grænu Tófurnar's Elíeser Oddmarsson made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Sigurbjarni Laufarsson was left in no man's land by his defense there! Eggert Leifsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 47 minutes into the game, Grænu Tófurnar's Sæmann Almarsson nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Sigurbjarni Laufarsson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-5. After the first half Grænu Tófurnar were leading 0-5. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Eggert Leifsson made the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, Hnoss Grímsey's Sigurbjarni Laufarsson got control of the ball when Sæmann Almarsson tried to sneak it across the goal line. Sæmann Almarsson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Elíeser Oddmarsson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 76th minute of the match, but Sigurbjarni Laufarsson made a huge save. With a little luck, Hnoss Grímsey's Sigurbjarni Laufarsson got control of the ball when Sæmann Almarsson tried to sneak it across the goal line. 79 minutes into the match, Hnoss Grímsey's goalkeeper Sigurbjarni Laufarsson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sæmann Almarsson. Vilhelm Þórarinsson kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. In the 84thth minute of the game Oddkell Hjálmarsson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Grænu Tófurnar's Ingvaldur Aðalmundsson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Grænu Tófurnar's Eggert Leifsson slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Sigurbjarni Laufarsson. That made the score 0-6 after 85 minutes of play. Sigurbjarni Laufarsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eggert Leifsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. When Jens Brynjólfsson came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Grænu Tófurnar fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jens Brynjólfsson couldn't finish the play. Sæmann Almarsson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 94th minute of the match, but Sigurbjarni Laufarsson made a huge save. Sigurbjarni Laufarsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eggert Leifsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the final whistle sounded Grænu Tófurnar left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Hnoss Grímsey.
